Start By:

  1. Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Bottom Guard – Remove”.
  2. Remove the axles. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Axle – Remove”.
  3. Remove the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Main Drive Shaft – Remove”.

  1. Position ripper (1) , as shown.
  1. Remove the ripper control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Ripper Control Valve – Remove”.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device onto guard assembly (2) . The weight of guard assembly (2) is approximately 145 kg (320 lb). Disconnect grease hose assembly (3) . Remove bolts (4) .
  1. Repeat Step 3 for the opposite side.

  1. Remove bolts (5) and (6) . Remove guard assembly (2) .
  1. Drain the power train oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Transmission System Oil and Screens – Change/Clean”.

  1. Remove bolts (7) and reposition hose assembly (8) .

  1. Remove filter (9) . Disconnect harness assemblies (10) and (14) . Disconnect hose assemblies (11) and (12) . Remove cover (13) .

  1. Remove yoke (15) .
  1. Remove bolts (16) and plate (17) .

  1. Install Tooling (E) in bolt holes (18) in order to support housing assembly (19) . Remove bolts (19A) . Use Tooling (D) to separate housing assembly (19) from the case.

  1. Install Tooling (A) onto transmission and bevel gear (20) . Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A) . The weight of transmission and bevel gear (20) is approximately 1497 kg (3300 lb). Install Tooling (D) . Remove bolts (21) and (22) . Slide out transmission and bevel gear (20) . Position transmission and bevel gear (20) on suitable cribbing. Remove Tooling (A) and (B) .

  1. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to transmission and bevel gear (23) . Remove transmission and bevel gear (20) .
