Start By:

  1. Remove the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Torque Converter – Remove”.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and relief valve (2) .

  1. Remove bolt (3) and retainer (4) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (5) and yoke assembly (6) .

  1. Remove bolts (7) in order to remove bearing retainer (8) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (9) from bearing retainer (8) .

  1. Remove seal (10) from bearing retainer (8) .
  1. Loosen nut (11) .
  1. Remove speed sensor (12) from bearing retainer (8) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) , Tooling (B) , Tooling (C) , and a suitable lifting device to torque converter cover (13) .
  1. Invert the torque converter. The weight of the torque converter is approximately 340 kg (750 lb).
  1. Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (C) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) , Tooling (D) , and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (13) .
  1. Remove bolts (14) and torque converter cover (13) . The weight of the torque converter cover is approximately 125 kg (275 lb).

  1. Remove O-ring seal (15) from torque converter cover (13) .

  1. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to output shaft (16) .
  1. Remove output shaft (16) .
