Remove And Install Flywheel Clutch Oil Pump (Direct Drive And Special Application)

Start By:

a. remove crankcase guard (rear)


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


1. Remove the oil from the flywheel clutch.

2. Disconnect the oil tube (1).

3. Remove bolts (2), the washers, flywheel clutch oil pump (3) and the gasket.

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the Flywheel clutch oil pump (direct drive and special application).

4. Fill the flywheel clutch oil pump with clean SAE 30 oil. Put a new gasket on the flywheel clutch oil pump. Put the flywheel clutch oil pump (3) in position in the flywheel clutch.

5. Install bolts (2) and the washers.

6. Connect oil tube (1).

7. Fill the flywheel clutch with oil to the correct level. See Operation And Maintenance Manual.

Disassemble And Assemble Flywheel Clutch Oil Pump (Direct Drive And Special Application)

Start By:

a. remove flywheel clutch oil pump (direct drive and special application)

1. Remove ring (1).

2. Use tooling (A) to remove gear (2).

3. Remove bolts (3) and the locks.

4. Remove key (4).

5. Remove body (5).

6. Remove the gear and shaft (6).

7. Remove gear (7).

8. Remove bearing (8). Remove the bearing from the body.

NOTE: The following steps are for the assembly of the flywheel clutch oil pump (direct drive and special application).

9. Clean all of the parts of the flywheel clutch oil pump. Make sure the parts are free of dirt and foreign material.

10. Install the bushing in the cover with tooling (B). Install the bearing until it is 1.6 mm (.062 in.) below the machined surface of the cover. Make sure the joint in the bearing is at an angle of 30° ± 15° from a center line through the bores in the cover. The joint must also be toward the outlet oil passage.

11. Install the bearing in the body assembly with tooling (B). Install the bearing until it is 1.3 mm (.050 in.) below the inside surface of the body assembly. Put the shaft in the body assembly. Put clean oil on gear (6) and install it on the shaft.

12. Put clean SAE 30 oil on gear (7) and install it in the cover. Put body (5) in position on the cover. Install bolts (5) and the locks that hold the body to the cover.

13. Install the key in the gear.

14. Heat the gear to a temperature of 454°C (850°F) and install it on the shaft. Make sure there is a distance of 3.2 mm (.125 in.) between the rear face of the gear and machined surface of the body assembly. Install ring (1) on the shaft.

NOTE: The flywheel clutch oil pump must turn freely by hand after it is assembled.
