D6D TRACTOR POWER TRAIN – Equalizer Bar

Remove And Install Equalizer Bar

Start By:

a. remove crankcase guard

1. Remove four bolts (2), two plates (1) and the two pads from the support assembly that holds the equalizer bar in position.

NOTE: Because of the height of tooling (B) when the tubes are in their lowest position, the machine must be driven up on tooling (A) for the installation of tooling (B) under the front of the machine. Make sure the tubes in tooling (B) are in the lowest positions before installation.

------ WARNING! ------

Keep away from the area of tooling (A) when the machine is driven forward and up on the tooling.

--------WARNING!------

2. Put tooling (A) in position in front of the tracks. Start the machine and move it forward and up on tooling (A). Put tooling (B) in position under the lower radiator guard. Make sure tooling (B) is not on a bolt that holds the guard.

------ WARNING! ------

The front of the machine will be lifted with tooling (B). Put wood blocks behind the tracks at the rear of the machine. Make sure the parking brake is engaged. This will prevent movement of the machine to the rear when the front of the machine is lifted with tooling (B).

--------WARNING!------

3. Remove the front carrier roller from the right side of the machine. See, Remove Track Carrier Rollers.

4. Lift the front of the machine with tooling (B) until the support assembly (saddle assembly for equalizer bar) is above and clear of the equalizer bar.

5. Put a floor jack in position under the equalizer bar. Lift the floor jack until it makes contact with the equalizer bar.

6. Remove four bolts (3) and washers. Lift the equalizer bar with the floor jack and slide support assembly (4) off the end of the equalizer bar.

------ WARNING! ------

Before the equalizer bar is removed from under the machine, fasten the bar to the floor jack so it can not fall. Keep away from the area under the equalizer bar when it is pushed out from under the rear of the machine.

--------WARNING!------

7. Turn the equalizer bar (5) to the side until it is free from the support assembly on the other side of the machine. Remove the equalizer bar from the rear of the machine. Weight of the equalizer bar is 90 kg (200 lb).

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the equalizer bar.

8. Put the equalizer bar (5) on the floor jack. Fasten the equalizer bar to the floor jack.

------ WARNING! ------

Keep away from the area under the equalizer bar when it is put in position under the machine.

--------WARNING!------

9. Put the equalizer bar in position under the support assembly (saddle assembly for equalizer bar) of the main frame. Lift the equalizer with the floor jack and put one end of the bar in the support assembly on the left track roller frame.

10. Slide the support assembly (4) over the other end of the equalizer bar. Lower the floor jack until the support assembly makes contact with the track roller frame. Install the four bolts and washers that hold the support assembly in position. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 270 ± 35 N·m (200 ± 25 lb.ft.).

11. Lower the front of the machine with tooling (B) until the support assembly (saddle for equalizer bar) of the main frame makes contact with the equalizer bar.

NOTE: Make sure the equalizer bar is in the center of the support assembly.

12. Install the right front carrier roller. See, Install Track Carrier Rollers.

13. Install two pads (6) on each side of the equalizer bar.

14. Install two plates (1) on each side of the equalizer bar.

15. Install four bolts (2) and washers. Tighten to a torque of 270 ± 35 N·m (200 ± 25 lb.ft.).

16. Put tool (A) in front of the tracks. Release the brakes. Start the machine and move it forward up on tool (A). Remove tooling (B) from under the main frame.

End By:

a. install crankcase guard
