Adjustment For Final Drive Bearings

1. Remove the nut and bolt holding lock (5) in position.

2. Remove lock (5).

3. Remove cap (2) and lock (4).

4. Use tool (A) to loosen adjustment nut (1). Turn the nut in a clockwise direction to loosen it. (Right side of machine). On the left side of the machine turn the adjustment nut in a clockwise direction also to loosen it.

5. Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 810 to 950 N·m (600 to 700 lb.ft.).

6. Install lock (4) to hold nut (3) in position. Install cap (2).

7. Start the machine and turn the sprocket slowly while adjustment nut (1) is tightened with tooling (B) to a torque of 3240 ± 70 N·m (2400 ± 50 lb.ft.). Tighten nut (1) in a counterclockwise direction. On the left side of the machine, the nut is tightened in a counterclockwise direction also.

8. Turn adjustment nut (1) clockwise with tooling (B) (about six to ten lugs) to lower the torque to 410 ± 14 N·m (300 ± 10 lb.ft.).

9. Use tooling (B) to tighten adjustment nut (1) again to a torque of 470 ± 14 N·m (350 ± 10 lb.ft.).

10. Make a mark on nut (1) and the holder assembly. Tighten nut (1) in a counterclockwise direction 45° more.

11. Install lock (5) in one of the notches on adjustment nut (1).

12. Install the nut and bolt that holds the lock in position in the adjustment nut.
